Happy Birthday, Weirdo

Today is the 80th birthday of Gore Vidal, one of America's great weirdos.

Doug Ireland rightly suggests that everyone should mark this occasion by visiting this website about Vidal.

I'm happy to hear this - I confess I've been a bit worried about the ole weirdo as it seems he's been conspiculously absent from the media in past months.

Lately I've noticed that I can't say the word "absent" without adding "conspicuously" anymore. I'm glad to see we've got something in common, mk.

Yes, and Gore Vidal's on my ever-thinning list of actual heroes. I'm just waiting to find out something horrible about him that will make me take him off my list.
