I'm Confused And Disoriented
Help! I've fallen into a bizarre alternate universe in which the Democratic party actually has some balls!
More on this new world we find ourselves in here.

Cheer them.
Posted by: Maezeppa at November 1, 2005 07:31 PMAre the Democrats our children now? Shit, man-- you can considered them disowned.
As much as I like what Harry Reid's doing, the man's a pro-lifer.
The problem with genuine progressives in America is not just the lack of numbers, but also the recognition that the entire political system needs to be changed.
As Thomas Paine once said: "That's an uphill fucking battle."
"Conservatives" like Grover Norquist, mentioned in the post below this, are willing to accept 100,000 dead Iraqis if that banishes the crushing evil of... high taxes. And the fewer and fewer compromises you have to make, the harder and harder it gets to get anything done.
It's already humiliating for me to have to vote for Democrats. Don't make it worse by asking me to cheer men like Harry Reid.
Posted by: Sully at November 1, 2005 07:53 PMWell, I'd like to think we can hold the Democratic Party to a higher standard than a child. A single instance of an opposition party doing its damn job (three years late!) isn't quite cause to stand and applaud.
But, alas, I'm just a grump.

You don't go to war with the party you want; you go to war with the party you have, so long as it's in a good cause.

Don't worry it's just an aberration.
