It WAS Au Revoir
I'm very happy to see that, due to vociferous feedback, Dennis Perrin has reversed field and decided to keep bl•••ing while working on his next book. Please stop by and get caught up.
I'd never seen this little "Pirates and Emperors" Schoolhouse Rock-esque cartoon Dennis links to. It's really worth watching.

Posted by: spiiderweb at April 21, 2006 08:18 PMGee, maybe the ideas expressed in "A Tiny Revolution" and Dennis's blog are influencing the majority of Americans. Maybe all the well-reasoned, earnest arguments are persuasive. Lots of people must be noticing, don't you think?
Hey, let go of the illusion. I live in the real America and you nice young people have NO IDEA just how clueless and/or reactionary its citizens really are. Those under 50 have been dumbed down so far they get a headache if they think about politics and the people over 50 believe if you speak Spanish you're sub-human. Iraqis and Iranians are lumped in--they're practically Mexican, aren't they?--so bombing their children is okay. If you're hoping to bring about change--even the immediate one of ending the war--forget it. The ONLY hope for that is reinstatement of the draft and the storm troopers are way ahead of you, so it ain't going to happen.
Dream on and keep on, but understand that the enemy is just too big, too rich, and too influential to lose.
that was a very good link hedgehog, thanks. did you hear the one about how shakespeare n chaucer n george w bush walked into a bar and

Obviously we're deep within the echo chamber, here, and no one should have illusions that blogs change minds. But I'm not sure what you mean about the "real America" - where I live people aren't so dumb. Even the ones over 50.
Posted by: saurabh at April 22, 2006 01:32 PMMy America is more real than your America. So there.
Posted by: pulaski at April 22, 2006 08:59 PMFor cryin' out loud, I was writing metophorically, not literally. Haven't polled everyone over 50 and I'm sure you haven't, either. Just wanted to emphasize that we need to recognize the abyss between the "anti-war movement" and majority beliefs.
Peace.
Yeah, and make sure you don't stare too long into that abyss, Mimi.
