So Much Arab Consciousness In Need Of So Much Searing
Here's Reuven Erlich, the head of something called the "Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center at the Center for Special Studies" in Tel Aviv:
...we have to sear into the Lebanese consciousness the steep price they will pay for provoking and harassing us.
But are the Lebanese the only Arabs who need to have their consciousness seared? I think not! A few years back, IDF chief of staff Moshe Ya’alon explained that Israel had to:
"sear deep into the consciousness of Palestinians that they are a defeated people."
Which lucky contestant will be next to have their consciousness seared?
Posted at July 23, 2006 06:13 PM | TrackBackMay I volunteer? Haven't had a good consciousness searing in ages. Well, there was that thing with Maggie, but we don't wanna go there.
I will have to eat my words about Bush being exceptional in so many ways as it is made clear in your links that there are many in the mold of Bush otherwise known as leaders.
The second link ends with "...and insist that their leaders act in their common interest."
However there is little hope that leaders in the mold of Bush will ever act in the common interest because their main goal is the search for that Holy Grail the golden opportunity previously mentioned in your recent post on that topic. Rather than fighting terrorists leaders like Sharon and Bush cultivate them in their gardens of deceit.
It really does shed light on so much. Our presence in Iraq, the bloodshed in Lebanon and Gaza, the refusal of Bush to make the least effort in diffusing the violence and on and on it goes and where it stops...
And of course as we hope we live long enough to see the end of the Bush presidency there is another little Bush God waiting in the wings with her eyes on the prize of power.
"We will stand with Israel because Israel is standing up for American values as well as Israeli ones."
Hillary Clinton.
What a world.
As a certain clever fellow once said,
"I'd prefer my consciousness remain unseared, if that's ok with you."

This obviously means they haven't tried putting LSD in the water supply! If these brilliant psy-ops were actually 'foxy' then those nasty old Hezbollah/Palestinians/terrorists-of-the-day would be 'searing' their brains out and dancing alongside the re-incarnated ghost of Jimi Hendrix!
However, here's an aside to those very same psy-op agents. Please send any and all unused and/or excess LSD-25, Purple Double-dome, Windowpane or Orange Sunshine to me at:

They sure sear something into the consciousness. And then they complain that nobody likes them.
Posted by: abb1 at July 24, 2006 03:13 AMabb1: your usage of filthy racist epithets such as 'they' and 'them' must mean, of course, that you're an anti-Semite! I just thought I'd beat the ensuing rush of Squawkers to the punch with that one!
Polly want a Squawker?
"Anti-Semite! Anti-Semite! Squawk! Squawk!"
Posted by: americanintifada at July 24, 2006 03:38 AMIt is anti-Semitic to believe that there is a group that can be denoted by the name "Jews."
Posted by: Adam Kotsko at July 24, 2006 08:42 AMSometimes you can take care of mold of Bush with hot water and a little bleach. If that doesn't do it, you may need to call in professional cleaners to get rid of your mold of Bush. You don't want to let mold of Bush get out of hand because it spreads like, well, mildew. So it's best to confront mold of Bush while it is still small and has not advanced to the point of taking over and causing sickness.
Posted by: blondie at July 24, 2006 08:57 AMIt is soooo last millenium to talk about "teaching lessons" to your enemies (which replaced "we'll show them who's boss"). All the cool kids are searing consciousness. It kind of sounds like that hippy "raising consciousness" crap, but with bombs.
Of course, since the enemies keep obtaining lessons or consciousness that are not the ones we are teaching or searing, be aware that we'll need another cool phrase down the line when searing consciousness gets old. Here are some early possibilities:
-we'll revise their assumptions
-we'll make them refer to the instructions
-we'll read them a bedtime story
-we'll push them up the learning curve
-we'll rewire their harddrives
-we'll expose their false pretenses
-we'll rewrite their record books
Well Whistle me Blue! What a great concept you have! Kinda makes me want to re-program their personal modems!
Posted by: americanintifada at July 27, 2006 04:40 AMIsrael talks about "consciousness searing" while Iran talks about "wiping israel off the face of the earth"
Personally, I'd rather have it "seared into my conscionusness" to stop terrorizing a small democratic country than have an IslamoFascist wipe me off the face of the earth just for commiting the crime of existing.
Where is your even-handedness?
Posted by: maggietoldme at July 27, 2006 11:58 AMthan have an IslamoFascist wipe me off the face of the earth
Actually, it was about wiping Israel off the map, not off the earth.
I would certainly prefer some geographical name to be wiped off the map than having things seared into my conscionusness.
Posted by: abb1 at July 27, 2006 01:43 PMI think a basic question is:
What will it take to get people, like the members of Hezbollah and Hamas, actually agree that ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST?
That is what it boils down to. Without that fundamental belief underneath, there would not be war between Hezbollah and Israel today. Iran has called Israel a "cancer".
Why is it acceptable to question Israel's existence? Does anyone question the existence of Italy or India or Sweden or Brazil? Israel, created in 1948 by UN mandate, exists.
It doesnt take violence to change minds, but minds need to be changed or the violence will never end.
That is the 'consciousness' that needs to change.
Again: What will it take to get people, like the members of Hezbollah and Hamas, actually agree that ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST?

"Actually, it was about wiping Israel off the map, not off the earth."
And the difference is?!? ... oh, I see, you are arguing that it is not Genocide that Iran advocates, merely the ethnic and religious cleansing of the middle-east.
Your compassion for the Zionist entity's 5 million citizens is duly noted.
I must relay that message to my friend in Tel Aviv, a liberal Israeli who was born in Iran, but apparently, like many Jews, felt the need to leave a hostile country to escape.
"We will stand with Israel because Israel is standing up for American values as well as Israeli ones."
Hillary Clinton.
C'mon, give her a break. Israel today isn't doing anything that wasnt done by the US Clinton admin in Belgrade 1999, in Sudan (pill factory aka CIA claimed WMD factory), ... or Waco.
