Two peas in one dreadful pod?

Sure, it may be unfair, possibly to both men. But you can't deny this pairing of Bernard Law and Dennis Hastert (by Jeffrey Feldman's Frameshop) has some real visual zing.
(If it's slipped your mind, Bernard Law was forced to step down as Archbishop of Boston for helping cover up the molestation of children by priests.)

Posted by: Jesus B. Ochoa at October 1, 2006 01:10 PMAt least Law has the decency to look embarrassed (unless that's just the exposure playing tricks with his face). Hastert looks just . . . well . . . annoyed.
The primary difference is that Cardinal Law is sporting what is known (in my family at least) as "priest hair." I don't know if silver-haired congressmen have a similar sartorial standard.
Posted by: Mollie at October 2, 2006 11:56 AMThere's something else they may have in common. After this scandal, Law got appointed to a pretty prominent post at the Vatican, comparable to the promotions and commendations that many Republicans have received despite disastrous results re: preventing 9/11; intelligence gathering or planning for Iraq; drafting torture policy.
Thus, I figure Hastert is now in line for a Medal of Freedom for his courageous service in this cover up.
To be fair to Hastert, Cardinal Law covered the tracks of more than one child predator.

That just means Hastert has fewer excuses for not having addressed the problem.
