"The Year Of Iran"
Some senior administration officials still relish the notion of a direct confrontation. One ambassador in Washington said he was taken aback when John Hannah, Vice President Cheney's national security adviser, said during a recent meeting that the administration considers 2007 "the year of Iran" and indicated that a U.S. attack was a real possibility. Hannah declined to be interviewed for this article.
John Hannah replaced Scooter Libby as Cheney's national security adviser when Libby resigned. He also was a primary author of the case on Iraq that Cheney's staff wanted Colin Powell to use at the UN, but Powell threw out as crap. And given what Powell did use, that must have been some pretty crappy crap.

I always considered a WWII media blitz/war bond selling effort the best way to get the public behind you. I realize now you don't need the public behind you - you just need them not asking too many questions.
I had two interesting conversations this weekend, with the same person. Driving a new Lexus SUV he told me how, as a small business owner, he was Republican because he is sick of being 'taxed to death'. On war with Iran he said they would deserve it for 'the hostages and everything'.
He votes.
Republican.

The Dems in the House were brilliant. They forced each member to go on the record in a five minute speech on the Escalation. Did you ever flip over a big rock when you were a kid and watch all the slimmy creatures scurry away from the sunlight? That was the Neocons in the House this week.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in opposition to H. Con. Res. 63 and in support of a just cause that is facing a critical turning point. The outcome hangs in the balance, and, Mr. Speaker, we should not kid ourselves into believing that victory is foreordained (Even though it is impossible to WIN an OCCUPATION).
Churchill (Who was a lot like like Bush...a drunk, but ten times smarter) once said that there would not be war if both sides did not believe that they could win it (But again, the only way you can WIN an occupation is to stay there forever). The enemy we face in Iraq and in the broader war against the radical Islamists is driven by an apocalyptic vision of God (Like our own American Taliban, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson), and because such apocalyptic visions are rooted in faith and not facts (Just like our own Rapture-Ready Born-Agains), they are very hard to dispel. We, therefore, face an opponent who is neither open to reason nor to compromise, nor will he necessarily be defeated by calculations of military strategy and prudence (A Bush, SR favorite...so much brighter than his spawn).
We face the paradox of a perilous time (The jig is up!). At the opening of the 21st century, we are opposed by an adversary who preaches the savagery and barbarism of the 12th century (Here it is: the HOLY CRUSADE reference...1099 when stupid white men from Europe invaded the Middle East to kill anyone who wasn't down with Jesus...That war lasted 300 years. Are you willing to hit "Replay"?). We face in Iraq an enemy that will allow us absolutely no quarter, and, Mr. Speaker, I am bound to say that I think we in this chamber, and, indeed, even in the country at large, have been slow to grasp that fact. (All Arabs are just like Nazis, except this time WE invaded and THEY are occupied)
As Lincoln (Just like Bush, but 100 times smarter) said in the Gettysburg Address, ``We cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract.'' (Although the Iraq OCCUPATION has already lasted longer than our own Civil War or WWII)
