It's A Good Thing We're So Good

Arthur Silber's "Dominion Over the World" series continues with part VII, "The Mythology of the 'Good Guy' American." Strangely, none of this stuff about the Philippines was in any of my history classes, and it never seems to be on TV. Hmmmm.

And (as everyone here already knows) the pathology isn't limited to the right. Liberals, even liberals who know better, often fall into the habit of talking about American ideals as though they were the reality, and that things like Abu Ghraib were the exception rather than the latest manifestation of typical American behavior in our wars against evil.
