Moveon Impeachment Poll
Much to my surprise, Moveon is polling members on whether they believe Congress should impeach Bush. Of course, they're doing this so quietly that almost no members seem to know about it. Go here and speak up, and then spread the word. If Moveon's members strongly come out in favor of impeachment, it would change a lot of political calculations in Congress.
Posted at May 9, 2007 05:59 PM | TrackBackthere's a box for comments asking why you want 'em impeached, but no box for indicating you want a Bush/Cheney package deal impeachment, which would prevent either one of them from choosing a replacement, if they were in fact removed. I offered this comment anyway.
Posted by: Jonathan Versen at May 9, 2007 08:17 PMI did the same, suggesting both should be impeached, can't do one without the other. Would not be fair to Dick.
Posted by: rob payne at May 9, 2007 08:29 PMWill anything that MoveOn's members say change a lot of political calculations in congress? I ask this in earnest. Do we really believe they're listening to us? Don't they, and the news media, see us as a noisy minority, sometimes good for a little righteous outrage or fake scandals, but not to be taken seriously as an indicator of national mood?
Posted by: Cris at May 9, 2007 09:36 PMONLY YOU, THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER, CAN FORCE CONGRESS TO IMPEACH DEADEYE DicTRAITOR AND THE COMMANDER GUY TOGETHER. Sometimes you gotta call them more than once.(twice?)
Posted by: at May 9, 2007 11:18 PMHow did you find out about it, Jonathan? They clearly don't really want to hear from too many of their members on this. Hell, the Iraq funding bill poll only got 126,000 responses -- and that went out in an email (though with a non-grabbing subject line and no deadline for voting).

The answer to both questions is yes. The amazing thing about the Democratic party is that it's so hollow as an institution that they have to respond to groups they consider small, noisy minorities.
Nell:
How did you find out about it, Jonathan?
A friend emailed me the link. I sure didn't get it from Moveon. (I don't know how my friend originally got it, but I think by email too.)
Posted by: Jonathan Schwarz at May 10, 2007 08:25 AMYou gotta be kidding, right? Moveon? No pissant front group has any kind of clout in the dp. That's not even a very funny joke.
