Hell and Virginia...You mean there's a difference?
Posted by: En Ming Hee at October 23, 2007 09:12 PMBTW, 1776 is the name of a Broadway musical...been filmed before whose most famous cast member is Blythe Danner as Martha Jefferson. Anyone saw that?
Posted by: En Ming Hee at October 23, 2007 09:15 PMAlas, En Ming Hee, I didn't see it. I'll bet if they made it today they'd have to have Angelina Jolie as Betsy Ross, and there would be a lot more explosions.
Posted by: jonathan "sayer of the blitheringly obvious" versen at October 23, 2007 10:17 PMsorry, I forgot to delete my phoney middle name from the previous thread.
Posted by: jonathan versen at October 23, 2007 10:18 PM1776 is a pretty good movie; I have a copy. But Blythe Danner? What about Ken Howard as Jefferson, Howard Da Silva as Franklin, and William Daniels as John Adams? All faces instantly recognisable — well, at least if you're over 30.
Anyway, Danner was only in a couple of scenes, sang a fairly awful song, and thankfully disappeared, leaving the rest of them to get on with it.
Posted by: Mike at October 24, 2007 01:37 AMI'm in my early twenties only, which is why I don't know who those are. I strangely am more acquainted with the stars of the Golden Age than I am with them. I just know Blythe Danner for being Gwyneth Paltrow's mom.
Posted by: En Ming Hee at October 24, 2007 03:16 AMoh good lord i needed that :) to quote those Guinness guys: brilliant!
Posted by: almostinfamous at October 24, 2007 10:10 AMThe DVD of 1776 is terrific. It also includes the deleted _Cool, Considerate Men_ scene which contains the following:
Dickinson: Be careful sir, history will brand him [Adams] and his followers as traitors.
Hancock: Traders, Mr. Dickinson? To What? The British Crown? Or the British half-crown?
Brilliant!
Posted by: Administratorte at October 24, 2007 10:22 AMLooking at Ken Howard's entry on IMDB, I see he's in a new "Rambo".
Is it that time in the American psyche again?
