Five Years Later

Today's high school seniors, who are about to graduate next month and are now old enough to join the military, were in seventh grade on Mission Accomplished Day.

The more depressing realization is that there are currently five-year-old children living in Baghdad who have never known a time when they weren't surrounded by guns and bombs and the sound of people dying. As far as they know, that's what life is. Think about THAT next time you see a five-year-old.

Sorry, my head can't do that. Thinking too much along those lines would force me to rip my head off. My head knows this and wants to stay attached to the rest of me, and so it won't go down that path.
