It Really Is About Serving
April 16, 2011, before David Petraeus was nominated to be head of the CIA and then forced to resign, he met privately with Fox News contributor Kathleen T. McFarland in Afghanistan:
Petraeus: I’m not out to go out and make money. The offers are unbelievable.McFarland: No, you would’ve done that before now.
Petraeus: I would have done it long ago. So it really is about serving.
But that was then, and this is now:
Mr. Petraeus has received offers from the financial community and has taken trips to New York to explore what one of his associates called “long-term opportunities.” He has been asked to serve as a consultant to major companies...

Posted at March 28, 2013 11:08 PMI am so friggin' tired of this "I have sinned, forgive me" crap, surely following the advice of some personal advisor in order to get the gullible--read "most of the ever-anxious to be fed malarky" public--to think, "Hey, he has a lot of courage to stand up there and apologize, why, I'd vote for him...." Who cares who he screws? I only care about the people he killed.

Posted by: Cloud at March 29, 2013 09:03 AMhe should coach the Knicks!- they could fire woodson, and hire petraeus in a great pr move combining war and sport!- then i bet they would slaughter the heat- um, so to speak
Posted by: frankenduf at March 29, 2013 09:06 AMI'm with you Rosemary, I would really like to see these fkrs held accountable - as for the money, well, they just can't seem to get enough, no matter how much they have.
Posted by: knowdoubt at March 29, 2013 09:28 AMNEVER enough nor can there ever be="He who dies with the most toys, wins," etc.
As far as the killing, well, U&I PAY HIM to do said killing. WE got OUR money's worth. Why complain?
Seriously, at THIS particular point in political time, WE should ask OURSELVES---what if it was a guy, another man, he was banging? Would WE have a different opinion over his resignation? Would he STILL be in office?

Susan: AGREED! In the game of LOTE, I'm thinking that Petraeus is a lot more lesser and a lot more competent than Brennen.
